Future ‘King & Queen Of Humility’

THE OUTLOOK FOR THIS COUNTRY HAS NEVER BEEN SO BRIGHT WITH THE EXCITEMENT OF THE FORTHCOMING WEDDING OF OUR FUTURE ‘KING & QUEEN OF HUMILITY’ – By Amanda Waters

Prince-William-Kate-MiddletonClassically beautiful, demure, and understated are all words which were used to describe our future Queen when I asked friends, family, and colleagues of their opinion on Kate Middleton.

When I asked further what they thought of ‘The Union’ between William and Kate many replied ‘a good team’ , ‘obviously in love’, and ‘they both have humility’.

Not a bad start as this seems to be the general consensus for the forthcoming nuptials between William and Kate on April 29th.

With regard to their humility, I am told by my mother that William’s humility is derived from his mother’s Saintly traits, and his grandmother’s love and strength. In fact, I have the words “never underestimate the power of a good grandmother” resounding constantly in my ears. Whatever the reason, William has certainly grown into a good-looking and stylish young man. Silently strong, yet unpretentious. A born leader. Kate’s humility is probably derived from her modest background (her mother was an Air Hostess and her father a tradesman) and it is said that they are both extremely hard workers.

Kate is said to have only recently employed the services of a stylist, preferring instead to choose her own clothes, and still puts all of her outfits together herself. Some of her favourite designers are Issa, Amanda Wakeley, Diane von Furstenberg, BCBG MAXAZRIA, Alice Temperley, and Burberry, but she also loves high street stores including Whistles, Jigsaw and Topshop for separates. She is already the ‘Queen of the two piece suit’ and likes to mix and match her designer pieces with high street. Her wedding dress is still a surprise however, but with the fab news that Paula Reed from Grazia Magazine has been appointed Style Guru by the BBC for the day, we will be in no doubt as to what (or who) she is wearing, (and everyone else for that matter).

Kate has adamantly refused to have a make-up artist on her wedding day, preferring instead to do her own make-up. How refreshing! No wedding day surprise with a new ‘Hollywood Style’ Kate arriving on the doorsteps of Westminster Abbey. For Kate’s style will undoubtedly evolve over the next few years, (a dress designed by Roland Mouret or Victoria Beckham would fit the bill perfectly for formal occasions perhaps?) but at the moment we are happy with her the way she is – that being a shiny haired, high cheek-boned, natural beauty.

Kate has come under a lot of scrutiny recently, more so than ever leading up to the wedding. ‘Is she too thin’, ‘Is she waving properly’, ‘Is she nervous’, ‘Is she dressing ahead of her years’.

Well I, for one, am grateful that she is a conservative dresser, (and always has been according to her Uni friends). With the nature of her appointments, her dress sense is entirely appropriate. It would hardly be right if her natural instinct was to choose a pair of leather leggings for formal occasions! Moreover, are the details in her wave, and the fact that she wanted to look slim in her wedding dress really an issue? And of course she’s nervous – who wouldn’t be under this kind of scrutiny!

What we should really be focusing on is the way these two ‘work together’ in public. They are a powerful team. The support which they give each other at the few public engagements at which we have seen them together is tremendous. Sideways glances, and a seemingly unwritten code when one needs a little extra support. Neither one outshining the other.

What relief that the future Ambassadors for this Country have adopted their responsibilities with a grown-up, yet grounded attitude, with the kind of honesty and hope in their eyes which would charm and disarm any foreign dignitary. It is obvious for all to see the mutual respect, admiration, but most importantly the love which they have for one another. Possibly the only language which is globally understood.

SO HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY TOMORROW WILLIAM AND KATE – YOU ARE BRINGING MUCH JOY TO THE NATION AND WE HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR DAY AS MUCH AS WE WILL!
