ELISE CHRISTIE RECEIVES A YELLOW CARD IN THE 1000 M SHORT TRACK HEATS, BUT A GOLD MEDAL FOR RESILIENCE
Elise Christie Has Spent The Last Few Days Recouperating Since Her Disappointment In The 500 M Short Track Heat Collision. It Was Touch And Go Right Until The Last Minute As To Whether Elise Would Be Able To Race, Having Sustained Considerable Soft Tissue Damage To Her Ankle.
You Could See She Was Slightly Uncomfortable When She Got Onto The Ice,
But Obviously Managed To Put The Pain Aside, And Got Off To A Flying Start,
But Sadly Collided With Hungary’s Andrea Kezler Shortly Afterwards,
Falling Down Onto The Ice And Sliding Over To The Barrier.
But Amazingly She Did Not Let This Hold Her Back… Instead She Lifted Up Her Skates For Her Coach To Check, And Made It Clear That She Wished To Go Again!!
This Time, She Started Off Warily, Staying At The Back To Start With, Slowly Moving Her Way Up To The Front, Seemingly ‘Tip-Toeing’ Between The Other Athletes To Avoid Any Additional Confrontation (And Pain.)
However, Despite Gallantly Finishing In The Top Two, She Was Awarded A Yellow Card, And Disqualified From The Race For An “Unsafe Manoeuvre”.
After The Race, Elise Said:-
“To be honest, a few days ago I didn’t think I’d be getting on the ice. I did everything I could to change it around. I had ligament damage and putting skates on wasn’t comfortable. We did everything but it obviously wasn’t meant to be.
If It was another competition I wouldn’t have got on the ice. The only reason I was given a choice was because it’s the Olympics.
I trained all my life for this. It was everything to me. It’s done. I don’t know, I felt I owed it to Britain. I want to get out there. It’s an amazing sport but sometimes it does this to you.”
Well Elise, In This Brutal, And Quite Frankly Baffling Sport (When It Comes To The Rules Anyway,) You Have Absolutely Tried Your Very Best! There Is Nothing More That We Could Have Asked Of You.
You May Not Have Won The Gold Medal On The Ice,
But You Absolutely Did For Your Grit, Bravery & Utterly Resilient Spirit…!
We are Very, Very Proud…!

LIZZIE YARNOLD FINISHES WITH DELIGHT
It Is The First Time Great Britain Has Ever Had Two People On The Podium In One Winter Event.
LIZZIE YARNOLD & LAURA DEAS – HUGS OF CONGRATULATION
After The Race, Lizzie Said “Honestly, after the last few years the aim was to get to the Olympics. I wasn’t thinking about medals,
ALWAYS SMILEY – LAURA DEAS
but to achieve that is the stuff of dreams, as is sharing the podium with Laura, who’s been amazing.”
Laura Deas Finished In Bronze Position, After Germany’s Jacqueline Loelling Took Silver.
ON THE PODIUM – GERMANY’S JACQUELINE LOELLING, LEFT, LIZZIE YARNOLD, CENTRE, AND LAURA DEAS, RIGHT
And Now That We Know That Elise Christie Is Not Hurt, And That We Are Hopefully Able To Wish Her Well For Tuesday, Along With Our Other Medal Hopefuls, James Woods (Who Competes In The Ski Slopestyle On Sunday), Plus Our Excellent Women’s Curlers, Brilliant Four-Man Bobsleigh Team, Amongst Others, Who Knows How Many Medals Team GB Could End Up With!!

ELISE CHRISTIE CRASHES OUT OF 1500 M SEMI-FINAL
Elise Christie Suffered More Heartache Today After A Collision With China’s Li Jinyu In PyeongChang In the 1500 M Semi-Final
Elise Looked As Cool As A Cucumber All The Way Through The Race, But A Collision With China’s Li Jinyu On The Final Turn Meant It Wasn’t To Be
Pain And Disappointment Was Etched On The Faces Of Both Ladies,
With Elise Seemingly Falling Hard Onto Her Right Side, And Shortly Afterwards, Promptly Being Whisked Off To Hospital For A Scan
We Have Since Heard That Thankfully Elise Is OK, And Will Still Be Able To Compete In The 1000 M (Her Favourite Distance) On Tuesday.
You Can Pick Yourself Up Again And Do This Elise, And When You Do Win That Medal, It Will Prove Your Outstanding Mental Strength As Well As Your Physical Performance Skills. And If You Don’t Win It – We Will Love You Anyway. We Are All Behind You!!
Remember – The Triumph Of The Human Spirit……..

Double World Champion Elise Christie Has Just Suffered A Major Disappointment After Crashing Out Of The 500 M Short-Track Speed Skating Final (Through No Fault Of Her Own – As Her ‘Balancing’ Hand Seemed To Have Been Unintentionally Swept Away From Her). Elise Is Understandably Feeling Quite Down Right Now.
Obviously This Is A Big Disappointment, But Everyone Could See What Happened, And That You Tried Your Very, Very Best, Under The Brutal Conditions Of This Exacting Sport, Where A Split Second Can Make The Difference Between Winning, Losing – Or Crashing!! Also, We Can All See What Spectacular Shape You Are In, And We Are Very Proud Of What You Have Achieved So Far!!
We Wish You All The Very Best For Your Next Races….!
Where You Will Have Had Time To Pick Yourself Back Up And Re-Assert Your Resilient Self.
However, Whether You Win Or Lose, We Will Appreciate Your Efforts And Love You Anyway. You Won’t Receive Any Hate On This Platform – We Wouldn’t Allow It.
And Remember – The Triumph Of The Human Spirit Knows No Bounds…!
Many Congratulations To Andrew Musgrave Who Achieved Seventh Place In The 30-Kilometre Skiathlon Today, Which Was The Best Winter Olympics Result By A British Cross-Country Skiier.
