Queen Elizabeth Has Today Sent A Message Of Condolence To The People Of New Zealand After The Tragic Terror Attacks In Two Mosques In Christchurch, New Zealand. The Queen Is New Zealand’s Monarch And The Head Of The Commonwealth.
The Queen said she was “deeply saddened” by the news, and paid tribute to the emergency services.
The full message read as follows:-
“I have been deeply saddened by the appalling events in Christchurch today. Prince Philip and I send our condolences to the families and friends of those have lost their lives. I also pay tribute to the emergency services and volunteers who are providing support to those who have been injured. At this tragic time, my thoughts and prayers are with all New Zealanders.

Pope Francis sent his condolences to the people of New Zealand; A statement released by the Vatican said “His Holiness Pope Francis was deeply saddened to learn of the injury and loss of life caused by the senseless acts of violence at two Mosques in Christchurch, and he assures all New Zealanders, and in particular the Muslim community, of his heartfelt solidarity in the wake of these attacks. Mindful of the efforts of the security and emergency personnel in this difficult situation.
His Holiness prays for the healing of the injured, the consolation of those who grieve the loss of their loved ones, and for all affected by this tragedy. Commending those who have died to the loving mercy of Almighty God, Pope Francis invokes the divine blessings of comfort and strength upon the nation.”

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed sorrow over the “citizens who were attacked and murdered out of racist hatred” in attacks on the mosques. She went on to say “We stand together against such acts of terrorism, adding that the victims had been doing nothing more than peacefully praying in their mosque.”

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the incident was “beyond awful” and called Muslims a “valued part of Scottish society.” She went on to say “Innocent people being murdered as they worship is horrific and heartbreaking. My thoughts and solidarity are with New Zealand’s Muslim Community and all of it’s people on this dark day.”
