The Queen Holds A Minute's Silence

The Queen’s Full Statement Read As Follows:-

“The whole nation has been shocked by the death and injury in Manchester last night of so many people, adults and children, who had just been enjoying a concert.

I know I speak for everyone in expressing my deepest sympathy to all who have been affected by this dreadful event and especially to the families and friends of those who have died or were injured.

I want to thank all the members of the emergency services, who have responded with such professionalism and care.

And I would like to express my admiration for the way the people of Manchester have responded, with humanity and compassion, to this act of barbarity.”

ELIZABETH R.

The stories of bravery from the emergency services, who ran towards the danger when others were fleeing in terror, doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly tending to the injured, and those who simply tried to ‘think on their feet’, and tried their best to do whatever they could do to help is truly inspiring.

Heroes from every walk of life turned out in their droves to do whatever they could to assist. Stories of taxi drivers who offered their services for free ferrying people to safety, the general public and pizza restaurants arriving with food, (including one elderly lady who arrived with bottles of water), a pharmacist who thought ahead, realising that some may not have their medicines with them, going ahead and getting prescriptions signed off and personally delivering the medication. A lady who was at Victoria train station when she felt the explosion, and when she noticed the teenage girls screaming and running away, led them to safety to the nearest Hotel, (sharing her details on social media, so the girls’ parents could contact her). Members of the general public who opened their front doors to simply let people into their homes, and also to ferry them home, also, the countless people who have queued up to give blood.

So many stories are emerging of defiance, compassion, and solidarity in the face of this unspeakable evil, that when you consider these acts of kindness, it shows that the very worst in humanity can also bring out the very best.

Following the atrocity, The Queen Visited Manchester Children’s Hospital To Show Solidarity With The Brave Victim’s & Their Families, And Wonderful Staff And vigils were held throughout the week.
Poet Tony Walsh read a rousing tribute to Manchester during one, entitled “This Is The Place”.
