Following the Ceremony, the Bishop of London, the Right Reverand Richard Chartres, conducted a poignant service of remembrance, and then live bands accompanied a huge parade of veterans, for a march past the Cenotaph, which they saluted as they passed. (By saluting the Cenotaph – which means empty tomb in Greek – they are paying their respects to all of those who have died and lie buried elsewhere.)
As the parade marched back to Horse Guards Palace, Prince Charles ‘took the salute’ in front of the Guards Memorial.
Elsewhere, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon attended the annual wreath laying and Remembrance Sunday Service at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

And a National Service of Remembrance for Wales was held at Cathays Park in Cardiff.
In Croydon, where seven people were killed and 50 injured after a tram derailed earlier this week, special prayers were said for those affected.
