DSQUARED2

A maverick glam rock star walks off the stage and onto a London street, picking up some style details from working class youth subculture along the way. The Dsquared2 Men’s Spring Summer 2017 collection is shaped by androgynous glitz meets quiet rebel. He’s a tough guy who wants to wear it all: a kilt, razor-slim motorcycle pants and platform boots encrusted with star embroidery.

In the lineup, opulence is pinned to spiky masculinity. Tonal sequins are appliquéd on a camouflage pattern parka and pants. Spangled knits are paired with acid bleached jeans and stacked heel platform boots. A Japanese-style floral silk jacquard covers a bomber and elongates the base of a ripped denim jacket.

Sleek and cool outerwear rules: aviators, bombers and chiodo jackets are crafted in supple leathers and marked with studs or sportswear style stripes. Mod influences are found in a mini parka jacket with check insert and a gummed leather bomber with an Argyle design in leather studs, and polos or crisp white poplin shirts with red plaid collars. Trousers veer between the rock star’s flared and cropped cut to lean motorcycle pants or torn jeans covered in patches. Plaid and acid washed denim kilts are layered over the looks.

Accessories amplify the bad boy style: beanies, flatcaps and porkpie hats, with striking piercing jewelry including multi-ringed earcuffs, oversized safety pins and chained signet rings. Duffles are cut from vintage-look leather embellished with patches, or in an Argyle pattern, while the Dsquared2 twin zip bag in check is profiled in studs.

In the spirit of Dsquared2’s DNA which meshes disparate points-of-view to create a new statement, the collection unifies the worlds of glam rock with British urban street culture.
