TOPSHOP UNIQUE AUTUMN/WINTER 2012 PRESS RELEASE

For Unique Autumn/Winter 2012, classic staples of utility dressing are reworked for the modern girl. A relaxed silhouette of great coats and strong outerwear form the backbone of the collection are softened with feminine separates for an easy, nonchalant look. This girl strides confidently straight from the catwalk into urban reality.

Wool overcoats and reworked bikers with tough asymmetric zip detailing and gunmetal buttons form their new wardrobe staples for Autumn Winter. Mixed in are soft printed pieces, featuring a regimented cross motif or camouflage florals on relaxed off duty shirt dresses. Kilts are integral to the look, mid-length pencil skirts have deep front splits and are matched with clean tailored bralets. Heritage fabrics such as bonded tweed and Prince of Wales check are
reconstructed with glove leather and waffle textured jersey in khaki, claret, charcoal and rust. Workwear boiler suits are given the luxe treatment in silk velvet which also features in the dungarees.

Bodyskimming, barely there dresses are toughened up with heavy gunmetal zips as straps and suspender detailing. Patinated sequins, camouflage petals and lacquered string overlays add texture and make a statement after dark.

Accessories are strong and functional. Footwear takes its cue from the brothel creeper, borrowing its crepe sole whilst updating with utilitarian influences. Standing strong, leather lace up boots have heavy soles and spiked, fierce heels.

Hats are a hybrid of the baseball cap and fedora and come in either sheepskin or felt. Large tote and duffle bags are practical with multiple pockets and drawstrings. Luxe materials are mixed and textures combined, with patent faux alligator and stippled surfaces Wide leather metal plated belts and gunmetal whistle necklaces finish the look.
