LAHTI INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND FINE ARTS (LIDF), one of the most prestigious design schools in Finland. LIDF was founded on the basic principles of the legendary German art school Bauhaus. LIDF offers studies in many different fields of design and media communication – including Vehicle Design, Fashion Design, Photography, Graphic Design, Packaging & Brand Design, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture etc. Fashion design students from LIDF have moved to positions in well-known international fashion houses, such as Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Diane von Furstenberg and Rue du Mail, as well as up-and-coming brands such as Ann-Sofie Back, Marques’ Almeida and Ostwald Helgason. Graduated LIDF fashion students can be found in MA (Hons.) programs in fashion schools around the world – e.g. Royal College of Art – UK, Central Saint Martins – UK and Parsons The New School of Design – New York USA.

Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts presents the final collections of it’s most successful graduating fashion students from spring 2014 at Copenhagen Fashion Week,  6th August @11:00-12:00. A joint show between three very different graduates – Ida Linnéa Mohell,  Piia Emilia and Carita Kiema – plunges through extremes like Haitian carnival figures,  smoldering feminine/masculine suits and even Moomin-inspired cooky knitwear. Traditional ideas of Finnish minimalism and functionalism are thrown into the air – instead contradictions,  contrasts and clashes are met when these designers hit the playground. Besides the graduating students, the show gives a glimpse of the beginner Bachelor students ready to make their mark on the fashion scene. Their experimental outfits create a strong collection with exciting constructions and material manipulations.
