FRANKIE MORELLO GUEST OF HONOR AT DOMENICANA MODE ON BEHALF OF THE “FASHION FOR HELP” PROJECT
Santo Domingo First Lady Candida Montilla De Medina invited the Frankie Morello maison to be the guest of honor at Domenicana Mode, the fashion week held from October 21 to 26, 2013.
For several years now, the First Lady has been organizing a gala evening at the close of the event for her “Fashion for Help” charity project.
In past seasons, the evening collected funds for approximately 1,200,000 Euros that were donated to various non-profit associations in the Dominican Republic.
This year funds will go to the “Mujeres Saludables” foundation that promotes the treatment and prevention of women’s diseases such as breast cancer for impoverished people on the island.
In just seven years, Domenicana Mode has become not only the most important fashion event of the Caribbean but of all Latin America.
“When we received the invitation from the First Lady, we were honored that our fashion could be the ambassador of such a noble cause, and we were proud to have been asked to represent Italian excellence in the Dominican Republic. We believe that today the island has strong bonds with fashion due to the development of its textile industry (many American and South American fashion houses produce their garments here) and also from an academic perspective because it is home to one of the ten most advanced schools of fashion: the Altos de Chavon school of fashion and design,” said Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti, the creators and owners of the Frankie Morello brand.
Frankie Morello will present its men’s and women’s fall/winter 2013-14 collections on October 26 at Hotel Occidental El Embajador. The event is endorsed by the Tourism Ministry of the Dominican Republic.
