SUNO

The SUNO Spring/Summer 2015 collection is tied together by a common theme of femininity, referencing the works and lives of Louise Bourgeois and Georgia O’Keeffe as female modern artists working in America in the mid-1900’s. “Both women were stunning in their individuality and strength as well as their artistry – adding a femininity of color, texture and material to a predominantly male art world,” says SUNO’s Erin Beatty. “The prints and colors are a tribute to the women and their works, the shapes and exploration of modern femininity.”
SUNO’s juxtaposition of pairing unexpected fabrics with more traditional elements is a signature technique. This season, SUNO plays with silicone heat transfers and high tech meshes mixed with softer silks and cotton laces, and femininity is expressed with softened color palettes, cinched waists and lengthened hemlines.
ABOUT SUNO
Max Osterweis first conceived of SUNO in 2008 after witnessing post-election violence in Kenya. Utilizing the vast collection of Kenyan Kangas as he gathered over years of traveling, Max joined forces with Erin Beatty, a Parsons graduate and designer for The Gap and Generra, to launch a high-end collection with a conscience.
Since its inception, SUNO has evolved from its original African roots to include production in Kenya, India, Peru and its home base of New York. SUNO utilizes the local talent of each country it works with to create a fresh and optimistic collection of unique prints, textures and embroideries layered together to build a bright and modern wardrobe for a confident, independent woman.
SUNO is available at more than 50 retailers worldwide, was a 2011 and 2012 finalist in the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, a 2012 Nominee, 2013 Winner of the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear and a 2014 LVMH Prize Finalist.
