RICHARD NICOLL – MODERN TIMES
“For A/W 12, I thought about the notion of modern work habits and looked to constructivism, Tati’s ‘Playtime’, and industrial factory wear for form and colour references.
I wanted to merge utilitarian workwear with work relevant daywear elements to create sensible, authentic clothes in a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ stylised ‘factory’ environment as a metaphor for the pace at which we all work in modern times.
The considered palette is sectioned into grey tones, hazard orange with rust, and electric navy with powder blue, all punctuated with safety yellow. Exclusive merino wool herringbone and flannel is spliced with silk georgette and crepe de chine, paired with cashmere and mohair knitwear separates.”
