Every year since 1919, The Royal Family, Prime Minister, Leading Politicians and Religious Leaders gather at The Cenotaph in Whitehall, London

to Commemorate all branches of the British and Commonwealth Civilian and Military Services (past and present.) Ceremonies are also held throughout the land and abroad at War Memorials and other public spaces.

 THE QUEEN WATCHED FROM THE BALCONY OF THE FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE AND WAS JOINED BY THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL AND THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE.

THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE LOOKED SOPHISTICATED IN A MILITARY STYLE BLACK COAT WHICH FITTED LIKE A GLOVE, WHILST THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL LOOKED ELEGANT IN HER BLACK COAT AND BLACK HAT WITH ORNATE FEATHERS.

 A two minute silence was held at 11.00 a.m. and Prince Charles, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of York were among those who laid wreaths at the Cenotaph alongside many Politicians and Dignitaries.

This was the second year that The Prince of Wales has laid the wreath on behalf of the Queen. 10,000 veterans then marched past the Cenotaph.

THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE LOOKED EXTREMELY ELEGANT IN HER MILITARY COAT, WHICH SHE TEAMED WITH A PILL-BOX HAT WITH VEIL AND PEARL EARRINGS WHICH HAD BEEN LOANED TO HER BY THE QUEEN.

 THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX SHARED A BALCONY WITH SOPHIE, COUNTESS OF WESSEX, AND PRINCESS ANNE’S HUSBAND SIR TIMOTHY LAURENCE. 

MEGHAN LOOKED CHIC AND SOPHISTICATED IN A TRENCH COAT AND WIDE-BRIMMED HAT TRIMMED WITH LEATHER

AND SOPHIE LOOKED VERY ELEGANT WITH A BLACK HAT AND TAILORED SUIT  -  ONCE AGAIN, ALL IN BLACK.

Remembrance Sunday is always held on the second Sunday of November, as close as possible to the 11th, as it was on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 that fighting stopped in Europe, the Armistice was signed, and the Great War was over.

In 1914, the fields of Northern France and Flanders beared witness to the intense fighting during War War One as war raged through Europe.

When the war was over

the blood red poppy was one of the only plants to grow on the barren battlefields.
